Ramadan working hours of service institutions

Muscat: It was decided to implement flexible working hours in the units of the administrative apparatus of the civil state. The decision also mentions that the employees can report attendance at 7 am and take dismissal at 3 pm work at a rate of 5 hours a day.

Times of Oman conducted a research on the official working hours of few government sector establishments and they are as follows:

1- Royal Oman Police, ( ROP ):

The Royal Oman Police announced that the official working hours during the holy month of Ramadan (1444 AH) in its different establishments that operate under the official work system will be from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday.

2- The Ministry of Labour and the Consumer Protection Authority, ( CPA):

 The Consumer Protection Authority and the Ministry of Labour informed the consumers that all service outlets will be available to receive and serve them starting from 8 am until 2 pm. They also emphasised that all electronic services are available around the clock within the framework of applying the flexible working system during the holy month of Ramadan.

3- Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion:

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion announced that the work period in the investor services halls in the Ministry’s general office building and the directorates and departments affiliated to it in the governorates during the holy month of Ramadan will be from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. However, the electronic services will be available to serve everyone around the clock through “ the Invest Easy portal”.

4- Health institutions:

Working hours in most health institutions in the Sultanate of Oman during the morning period start from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and in the evening from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am in the morning.

While in Muscat Governorate, the Ministry of Health said that the working hours of health centres and specialised complexes (Bausher and Al Seeb) in Muscat Governorate during the blessed month of Ramadan will be in shifts from Sunday to Thursday.

The morning shift for health centres and specialised complexes will be from 8am to 1pm while the evening shift at health centres will be from 7pm to 12am and in specialised complexes from 1pm to 7pm. During the night period, the working hours in the specialised complexes will be from 12am to 8am.

The Directorate General of Health Services in the Governorate of Muscat said that Qurayyat Hospital will receive emergency cases 24 hours a day during the holy month of Ramadan.

The working hours of health centres and specialised complexes (Bausher Specialist Complex and Al Seeb Specialist Complex) in Muscat Governorate during weekends and official holidays will be as follows: 8am to 7pm (specialised complexes) and 7pm to 12am (health centres).

The night shift for the specialised complexes during weekends and holidays will be from 12am to 8am.

The ministry added that Al Sahel Health Centre and Al Mina District Health Centre will work only from 8am to 1pm.In the evening, on all days, patients of Al Sahel Health Centre should go to Qurayyat Health Complex while patients of Al Mina District Health Centre will have to go to Muttrah Health Centre.
