Several GCC countries announce first day of Ramadan

Muscat: Most of the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries, (GCC), announced that the first day of Ramadan will be on Thursday, 23 March, 2023.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait announced through their respective news agencies that the crescent could not be seen, by saying: ”The crescent of the month of Ramadan could not be seen on the evening of Tuesday, and thus the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan will be Thursday, March 23, 2023.

The Supreme Court in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) also announced that Thursday is the first day of Ramadan, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), quoting the Royal Court.

The Supreme Court said: “Tomorrow, Wednesday, corresponding to March 22, 2023, is the 30th of the month of Sha’ban, and Thursday, the beginning of the month of Ramadan 1444 AH.”
