Conference highlights efforts taken to maintain security and safety

Oman’s Civil Defence and First Aid Conference and Exhibition kicked off on Wednesday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. More than 300 participants from Oman and abroad are taking part in the event, which is organised by the Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (ACDA). The two-day event highlights the relentless efforts undertaken by Oman in achieving the highest levels of security and safety. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

Dead whale found washed ashore in Oman

The Sultanate of Oman's Environment Authority (EA), represented by the Environment Department in Al Wusta Governorate said that it has dealt with the death of an Arabian Sea Bryde's whale. The Environment Authority said: "A dead Bryde's whale was washed up on Kanasa beach in the Wilayat of Mahout in Al Wusta Governorate. The cause of death is attributed to fishing nets." The specialists confirmed that work has been in place to take the procedures followed in cooperation with the relevant authorities, in addition to taking samples and testing.
