Muscat: After a long hiatus owing to COVID-19 pandemic, the Sultanate of Oman is back as a favoured destination for shooting of Indian movies.

A good number of movie fans were seen in the CBD district recently cheering the shooting of an Indian Telugu-language movie, named Agent.

Agent is an upcoming spy action thriller film directed by Surender Reddy from a story written by Vakkantham Vamsi. It stars Mammootty, Akhil Akkineni, Sakshi Vaidya, Dino Morea and Vikramjeet Virk.

The launch of Agent was announced in September 2020. Filming has already taken place in Hyderabad, Budapest, Visakhapatnam and Manali, with Oman the latest stop. The film's release was deferred multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and production delays. Agent is now scheduled for a theatrical release on 28 April 2023.

It may be recalled that in the past several Bollywood and Indian regional films have been shot in the country.
