Session in Jeddah holds discussion on Islamic law

Jeddah: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, is taking part in the twenty-fifth session of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) being held in Jeddah.

The Oman’s delegation in deliberations of the session is led by Sheikh Dr. Kahlan Nabhan Al Kharousi, Assistant to the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman.

The current session witnesses the participation of 200 scholars from the OIC member states with expertise and specialisation in Sharia disciplines, economics, medicine, and sociology to discuss 160 research papers on the issues and topics of the session.

Scholars and experts discuss the principles for implementing the objectives of Islamic law (maqasid) in conducting contemporary financial transactions in accordance with Sharia.

It is expected that the IIFA will issue resolutions dealing with a spectrum of issues within the framework of the authentic collective jurisprudential reasoning (ijtihad) of the scholars of the Islamic world in the current era.
