MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,664.17 points, up by 0.23 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.10 per cent at 481.54 points.

Musandam Power, up 9.79 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Batinah Power, down 8.57 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 242 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.2 million, with more than 10.19 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 11 advanced, 14 declined, and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR327,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR326,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,470.16 points, down 0.56 per cent. Prices of Bank Nizwa and Sohar International Bank were up by 1.01 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Sharqia Investment, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Muscat Finance, United Finance, and National Bank Oman were down by 3.08 per cent, 4.86 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 1.70 per cent, and 1.53 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,926.33 points, up 0.04 per cent. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, Galfar Engineering and Raysut Cement were up by 3.08 per cent, 2.11 per cent and 1.63 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Al Maha Ceramics, Voltamp Energy, Oman Cement, and Salalah Mills were down by 2.35 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 1.1 per cent before closing at 1,675.08 points. Prices of Musandam Power, Al Maha Marketing, Phoenix Power, Ooredoo, and Oman Telecom were up by 9.79 per cent, 6.52 per cent, 5.46 per cent, 2.53 per cent and 1.71 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Sembcorp Salalah and Renaissance Services were down by 8.57 per cent, 5.88 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.
