Housing Ministry to grant 23,000 plots to eligible citizens in Oman

Muscat: 23,000 plots of land will be granted to eligible citizens in 2023 as part of the goals in its current plan, said the Sultanate of Oman’s Minister of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP).

His Excellency Khalfan Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, said in the third media dialogue that among the ministry's objectives in its plan during this year are:- granting 23,000 residential plots of land, more than 30,000 requests for proving and registering ownership, and 1,200 cases within the housing assistance programme.

His Excellency pointed out: ”The number of families benefiting from the housing assistance programme reached 1,478 families in 2022.”

He added, "We hope during this year to complete cash compensation for the cases affected by the Al Batinah Coastal Road project. As for in-kind compensation, we aim to compensate 1,596 housing cases and 2,278 agricultural cases."

His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning also confirmed that the lands that were previously distributed were 50% reconstructed, and we are now seeking to distribute the lands to the beneficiaries without randomness.

Al-Shuaili confirmed that the number of requests for housing has reached more than 500,000, and after reviewing the submitted requests, the actual number of families that do not own homes is approximately 125,000.

 His Excellency also explained that the Ministry launched at the end of January 2023

the “60 Days” initiative under the slogan “Citizens First”, which included more than 52 initiatives with 4 main goals. The overall average of the achievement has already reached 52% in the third week.
