CBO High Sharia Supervisory Authority holds 1st meeting

Muscat: The High Sharia Supervisory Authority (HSSA) of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) held its first meeting of 2023 at CBO head office today.

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Dr Kahlan Nabhan Al Kharousi and attended by all the members.
HSSA held detailed deliberations on various issues presented to it, which included, among others, Sharia aspects relating to the Islamic banking business and the review of different matters related to the Islamic liquidity management project. In light of the discussions, HSSA provided its Sharia opinion and recommendations.

HSSA was also briefed on the actions taken, with regard to issues discussed in its previous meeting.
In addition, Dr Kahlan Nabhan Al Kharousi and Sheikh Dr Abdullatif Mahmoud Al Mahmoud have been re-elected as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of HSSA, respectively, for another term of four years up to December 2026.
