MSX index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,757.26 points, down by 0.24 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.27 per cent at 492.12 points.

Shell Oman Marketing, up 6.34 per cent, was the top gainer while National Aluminium, down 6.25 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 194 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2 million, with more than 5.05 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded securities, 6 advanced, 9 declined, and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR69,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR34,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR34,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,614.51 points, down 0.17 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Takaful, and Bank Nizwa were down by 2.30 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,992.07 points, down 0.27 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Oman Chromite and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 2.30 per cent, 2.27 per cent and 0.87 per cent respectively. Prices of National Aluminium and Galfar Engineering were down by 6.25 per cent and 2.91 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.43 per cent before closing at 1,688.50 points. Prices of Shell Oman Marketing, Sharqiyah Desalination, Renaissance Services, Al Batinah Hotels, and Al Batinah Power were up by 6.34 per cent, 0.72 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Muscat Gases and Ooredoo were down by 3.77 per cent, 2.78 per cent and 1.83 per cent respectively.
