Permit required to enter Khor Kharfoot, says Oman authority

Muscat: It is prohibited to enter the Khor Kharfoot Archaeological Reserve in Dhofar Governorate without pre-permit, said the Environment Authority(EA) said. 

According to the EA, based on the Law on Natural Reserves and Wildlife Conservation issued by Royal Decree No. (6/2003 ) and Royal Decree No. (58/2021 ) to establish the Khor Kharfoot Archaeological Reserve in Dhofar Governorate. It draws the attention of everyone that entering the reserve without a prior permit is a legal violation punishable by law, noting that permits to enter the reserve are granted by the Directorate General of Environment in Dhofar Governorate only due to special conditions.

Khor Kharfoot Archaeological Reserve is located between the wilayats of Rakhyut and Dhalkut in Dhofar Governorate on the coast of the Arabian Sea. The reserve covers an area of ​​143.4 km2 and is within the mountainous geographical area in Dhofar Governorate, which is affected by the annual monsoon (Khareef) rains with the prevalence of subtropical climate.
