Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) will celebrate today, Thursday, the Omani Industry Day which falls on February 9th every year. This year the focus is on 'In-Country Value'.
Engineer Ahmed bin Saif Al Shedi from the Directorate General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said: “The Omani Industry Day falls on 9th of February every year. It began with the Royal visit of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the Rusayl Industrial Area in 1991.”
“This celebration is an opportunity that HE the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion meets industrialists, in order to review the most important modern indicators, the updates of the industrial sector and an attempt to solve many challenges facing the industrial sector,” Al Shedi said.
“The celebration programme of the Omani Industry Day will include a meeting between HE the Minister with industrialists and various segments of society and a speech by the Ministry to be delivered by HE the Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry. The celebration will also witness the inauguration of the international numbering system (Barcode) for Omani goods and products, which will contribute to raising the efficiency of supply chains and facilitating the process of selling and marketing industrial products,” he added.
Engineer Ahmed bin Saif Al Shedi added that coinciding with the celebration of the Omani Industry Day, a number of industrial exhibitions will be held in various governorates of the Sultanate.
