Muscat: Al Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in the Wilayat of Taqah has started the implementation of the Green Houses project, which aims to provide training and operational opportunities for young people with disabilities enrolled in the centre.

Salma bint Issa Al Ma’ashani, head of the Al Wafa Centre in Taqah said: “The project aims to employ and integrate this group, and make its members active and productive in society, as they are trained in agricultural work, and provide them with skills that help them in their social and professional lives.” She added that the beneficiaries of the agricultural reserve so far are 21 students from the centre.

Through these protected agricultural houses, a safe and exemplary environment is provided to enable those enrolled in the centre to practice meaningful movement activity, self-realization, and a sense of independence through agricultural work, and benefit from the material returns from the sale of agricultural products.

The head of the centre added: "We seek through this reserve during the coming period to enable the cases joining the centre to practice agricultural activity and gain experience in this field, and therefore in the event of a large company investing in the reserve, they will be employed to work in it and obtain financial income from it."
