Total refinery products in Oman rises by 4%

Muscat: The total refinery products in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 4 per cent until the end of December 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Oman’s production of petrol (M-95) rose by 12.6 per cent to stand at 14,838,700 barrels compared to the same period in 2021. Sales of M-95 fuel dropped by 0.3 per cent to reach 12,574,900 barrels, while exports reached 3,111,600 barrels, comprising a surge of 118.8 per cent till the end of December 2022.

The production of standard grade petrol (M-91) rose by 0.5 per cent by the end of December 2022 to stand at 13,816,900 barrels compared to the same period in 2021. Sales of M-91 fuel reached 13,171,800 barrels, comprising a rise of 44.7 per cent, while exports declined by 59.6 per cent to reach 1,605,600 barrels.

Gas oil (diesel) output fell by 5 per cent compared to the same period in 2021, reaching 32,569,300 barrels. Sales of diesel increased by 12.2 per cent to reach 14,975,100 barrels, while exports decreased by 17.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2021 to stand at 17,288,000 barrels.

As far as petrochemicals are concerned, the exports and production of polypropylene went up by 22.4 per cent and 43.3 per cent, respectively. Sales of polypropylene dropped by 48.2 per cent at the end of December 2022 compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

On the other hand, the production and exports of benzene decreased by 59.7 per cent and 63 percent, respectively, until the end of last December, while the production and exports of paraxylene decreased by 66.1 per cent and 66.6 per cent, respectively
