Muscat: Luminous Dinosaurs at Al Naseem Garden is one of the major attractions of the Muscat Festival this year.

Having more than five different kinds and sizes of dinosaurs in the festival, children could be seen fully engrossed in watching and learning more about the dinosaurs. The parents accompanying them were equally thrilled. Eight-year-old Jassim Al Balushi could not contain his excitement and said: “I like all the dinosaurs and I want to take one home.”

Another 12-year-old boy said: “I really enjoyed watching the dinosaurs. I have many books that tell about the different species of dinosaurs.” Adults from different nationalities were also seen at the festival ground who had especially come to watch the dinosaurs. An Indian resident said: “It’s very fascinating to see the dinosaurs; they look very real to me.”

The show is open for all age groups but not everyone has to buy a ticket. Children under the age of four can watch for free and those who are four and above, the ticket costs OMR2.

These luminous dinosaurs have been manufactured at an Oman-based company’s branch in China. The company in Oman is called Gulf Asian Development Company (GAD). Ahmad Al Maktomy, CEO of Allied Consultants Engineering (ACE), said: “We not only create dinosaurs but also other huge figures like statues and castles.”

Ahmad Al Maktomy added that they are authorised to stay for one more month after the festival ends. “We are authorised for one more month after the Muscat Festival but we might not stay because we will be alone and not a lot of people will visit.” In the coming months they will be participating in different festivals, both in and out of Oman. “We will be participating in the Salalah festival and have already started the paperwork,” Ahmad added. Other than Oman they also have plans to visit America, Turkey and Brazil.
