Muscat: More than two thousand sick leaves were taken daily during the year 2021, the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), said.
On average, the number of sick leaves spent in health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health in 2021 exceeded two thousand leaves per day.
The NCSI stated that the average daily sick leaves spent amounted to 2,387 in 2021, an increase of 44% compared to 2020.
The health statistics published by the center, which includes data for the year 2021, also included the average number of external visits to the institutions of the Ministry of Health. In 2021, the average number of visits per capita was 2.7 visits, compared to 3.5 visits in 2017. While the average number of visits per Omani per year is 4.4 visits.
External visits witnessed a decrease of up to 20% in the institutions of the Ministry of Health between 2017 and 2021. North Al Batinah Governorate is considered the highest in external visits by 19% in 2021.
