Scattered rain to continue in parts of Oman

Muscat: The weather on Monday, January 30, 2023 will be partly cloudy in most of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman with chances of scattered rain, said Oman Meteorology.

A statement issued online by Oman Meteorology said :”Clear to partly cloudy skies over the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman and the coasts of Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates. Rest of the Sultanate’s governorates to have clear skies with chances of fog at night and early morning tomorrow over parts of the governorates of Al Dhahirah, South A’Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Dhofar and the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman.”

An official from Oman Meteorological said exclusively to Time of Oman that the wilayats and governorates of the Sultanate of Oman will witness a significant decrease in temperatures in the coming days, after an air depression that the Sultanate witnessed during the past four days.

Jabal Shams recorded the lowest temperature in Oman at -3 degrees Celsius, followed by Siq in Jabal Al-Akhdar with a temperature of 1 degree Celsius, Jabal Samhan with 6 degrees Celsius, and Jabal Al-Qamar with a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.

In the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, the Wilayat of Madha in Musandam Governorate recorded 15 degrees Celsius, and in the Wilayats of Sohar and Al Suwaiq in North Al Batinah Governorate recorded 14 and 13 degrees Celsius respectively. In Governorate of Muscat, the Wilayats of Seeb and Al Amerat recorded, respectively, 17 and 16, and in the Governorate of Dhofar, the Wilayats of the Al Hallaniyat Islands, Salalah and Thumrait had recorded a temperature of 19, 18 and 11 respectively.

In Al-Dhahirah Governorate, the wilayats of Ibri and Yanqul recorded temperatures of 10 and 12 degrees, respectively, and in the governorate of Al-Dakhiliyah, the Wilayats of Nizwa and Samail recorded temperatures of 13 and 12 degrees, respectively, while in the North Sharqiyah Governorate, the Wilayats of Al-Mudhaibi and Ibra recorded temperatures of 12 and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively. While in the South of Al Sharqiyah, the Wilayat of Sur recorded a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, and in the governorate of South Al Batinah, the Wilayat of Rustaq recorded a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.

Winds on the coasts of the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Sea are expected to be light to moderate northeasterly winds that are sometimes active on the coasts of the Arabian Sea, while light to moderate easterly winds are expected over the rest of the governorates.

The state of the sea will be calm to medium waves on the coasts of the Arabian Sea, with a maximum height of one and a half meters, and normal waves on the rest of the coasts, with a maximum height of one and a quarter meters.
