An official from the Oman Meteorology confirmed exclusively to Times of Oman that the impact of the air depression on most of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman will continue till Sunday, with chances of heavy rains along the coastal governorates of the Sea of Oman and the mountains. The peak of the depression will occur on Saturday night.

The official also confirmed that more rains were recorded in the northern governorates, including Musandam, Al Buraimi, North and South Al Batinah, as well as Al Wusta. There is a possibility of rains of varying intensity in the Governorate of Muscat too.

A statement issued by Oman Meteorology said: “There is cloud condensation activity on the eastern Hajar Mountains, and chances of rains of varying intensity and thunderstorms at times - in parts of the governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Al Sharqiyah.”

A statement issued by the CDAA , said: “The authority stresses the need to follow safety instructions during rains and not to venture into flooded wadis to preserve the safety of everyone.”

Jabal Shams recorded temperatures ranging from -1 to -5 degrees Celsius in the morning and between 5 to 1 degrees Celsius during the day, which led to the formation of frost and snow. Citizens and residents rushed during the weekend to watch the snow and enjoyed the cold weather on top of the mountain.
