Muscat: The lowest temperature recorded in the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday was in Jabal Shams, which was -3.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Oman Meteorology, Jabal Shams station in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate recorded -3.4 degrees Celsius, which was the lowest temperature among all weather stations during the last 24 hours, followed by Saiq station in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate with 3.8 degrees Celsius.

Jabal Shams literally means the “Sun Mountain” in Arabic, and it is so called because it is the first place to receive sunrise in Oman due to having the highest peak.
