UK forum focuses on investment opportunities in Oman

London: With the participation of the Oman Investment Authority, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and a number of government companies representing various sectors, a trade forum was organised in London.

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United Kingdom played a key role in cooperation with the University of West London Business Centre in organising the Omani-British Trade Forum.

The forum focused on investment opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman and introduced the various sectors available for investment with the aim of achieving economic diversification.

During the forum, government companies made visual presentations about investment opportunities available in the logistics, tourism, mining, fisheries and food sectors, and introduced the services and facilities provided by Credit Oman to individual and corporate investors.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion also gave a visual presentation on the services and facilities provided by the "Invest in Oman" hall directly from the Omani Embassy in London, while Bank Sohar presented the products and facilities that it will provide to investors wishing to invest in the Sultanate of Oman.

During the conference, the provision of "Invest in Oman" services was announced by opening a commercial registry, granting an affiliation certificate and activity licence for the first time directly from the Omani embassy in London, and opening a bank account for individual investors and companies.

Badr bin Mohammed Al Mandhari, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Kingdom, said that the Oman-Britain Trade Business Conference was a translation of the royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to activate the role of economic diplomacy and activate the work of the Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United Kingdom.

Al Mandhari explained that during the conference, investment opportunities in various fields and the facilities provided to investors in the Sultanate of Oman were presented.

The Ambassador confirmed that investors from the United Kingdom wishing to invest in the Sultanate can complete their procedures at the embassy's headquarters in London through the "Invest in Oman" service, which includes opening a commercial registry, granting a certificate of affiliation with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, licensing activity, opening a bank account, and other procedures.

Arwa bint Abdul Rahim Al Balushi, Minister Plenipotentiary - Commercial and Investment Attaché at the Embassy of the Sultanate in the United Kingdom in London, explained that the establishment of this conference comes from the standpoint of enhancing foreign investment, supporting economic diversification of non-oil sectors, and promoting investment opportunities through the participation of some Oman Investment Authority companies.

Al Balushi indicated that the conference included holding a panel discussion on the services provided by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and “Credit Oman”, which is considered one of the primary and essential tools for some factories and companies seeking to expand outside the United Kingdom.

The Oman-Britain Trade Business Conference witnessed the participation of a number of British government officials, as well as the participation of about 150 British companies.
