Expo Japan 2025: Entries for Oman's pavilion design competition to end soon

Muscat: The deadline for receiving entries for designing the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion for Expo Japan 2025, which is supervised by the Belarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, is Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Participation in the competition is open to Omanis, without age restriction, for specialists in the fields of architecture, design and urban planning, individually or as part of a team of up to five members. Local consulting offices can also participate in the competition.

The area of the land allocated for the pavilion is about 1,763 square meters, and the award has allocated a financial reward of OMR 10,000, which will be awarded to the winning project in the competition.

Within the technical guide, the competition jury clarified several criteria, including: the appropriateness of the design idea, its clarity, its expression of the goal of participation, the presentation of creative ideas and innovative solutions, the use of interactive elements within the design, in addition to taking into account the aesthetics of the pavilion during various times, and the selection of colors and lighting carefully so that they contribute to in crafting the ward's identity.

The official slogan of the Japan Expo bears the slogan "Designing a future society for our lives", and aims to create an ideal future society by achieving sustainable development goals by the countries participating in the exhibition through three axes: ensuring life sustainability, improving life, and enhancing life through communication. .

It is noteworthy that the competition was launched on the eighth of January, and the winner will be announced during the month of February, and the rights of the winning project will be transferred to the Belarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, with the absolute right for them to assign, implement and develop it in any way they see fit.
