Oman ranked 65th in the index this year, compared to 68th last year.

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman advanced three places in the index of the most powerful passports in the world in 2023. The index was recently issued by Henley & Partners, a consulting firm based in London.

Oman ranked 65th in the index this year, compared to 68th last year. The Sultanate ranked alongside UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain as the best Arab countries in terms of passport strength.

According to the index, citizens of Oman can enter 82 countries without a visa, or can obtain a visa upon arrival at their airports.

Japan topped the index, Singapore and South Korea came in second, while Germany and Spain came in third.

Afghanistan was ranked at the bottom of the ranking, followed by Iraq and Syria.

Henley & Partners Consulting indicated that the index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and is issued over a period of 18 years, while being updated every 3 months.

It is noteworthy that the Omani passport was ranked among the 5 most powerful Arab passports in the world passport index for the third quarter of 2022.
