Muscat : Parts of the Sultanate of Oman may be affected by an air depression from today, Thursday, January 5, 2023 evening, till Sunday morning, January 8, 2023, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
"The latest weather maps and analysis of the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center indicate that the atmosphere of the northern Sultanate of Oman will be affected by an air depression from today evening, and will continue until Sunday morning, January 8, 2023, " the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a statement.
Clouds are expected to flow over Musandam Governorate with chances of isolated rain from today evening and gradually extend to include the Governorates of Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah with rains of varying intensity, including thunderstorms at times.
The expected impact of the depression:
1- Isolated rain of varying intensity, from 10 to 40 mm, on Friday and Saturday, leading to flow of valleys.
2- Fresh downward winds, with speeds ranging from 15 to 25 knots (28-45 km/h).
3- Sea wave rises on the coasts of the Governorates of Musandam and North Al Batinah from medium to rough waves, with a maximum height ranging from( 2-3 meters ), and the average wave on the rest of the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman, reaching a maximum height of two meters.
CAA calls on citizens and residents to take precautions during the rains, flowing valleys, low horizontal visibility, to check the state of the sea, and to follow the weather forecasts issued.
