Muscat: The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has attracted more than 200,000 local and international visitors in 2022.
The number of visitors to the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reached 208,423 visitors during the period from the beginning of January to the end of December 2022, according to the statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information(NCSI).
The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar is one of the important tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman throughout the year, due to its mild climate in summer and very cold in winter, and the availability of many different hotel facilities. It witnesses an influx of tourists during the winter season to enjoy the cold weather that characterises it, and to practice sports such as mountaineering and hiking in mountain paths.
The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar is characterised by many agricultural crops, such as pomegranates, grapes, peaches, apricots, roses, and other agricultural crops.
The villages of the wilayat are also distinguished by many ancient shrines, which help in attracting large numbers of tourists from various Arab, Asian, European and American countries.
Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information showed that the number of Omani citizens who visited the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar during the past year reached 112,619, the number of Saudi tourists reached 13,428 , and the number of Emirati visitors reached 1,543 .
The number of Bahraini visitors who visited the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar last year reached 51, the number of Kuwaiti tourists reached 1,236, and the number of Qatari visitors reached 746. While tourists from other Arab nationalities reached about 6,041 , and the number of visitors from foreign nationalities reached 72, 294 .
The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar is also famous for ecotourism and adventure tourism in the Sultanate of Oman. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as walking in the valleys, visiting caves and practicing mountain climbing, which in turn contributes to getting to know the local culture in the wilayat.
