Muscat: Omantel is set to break new ground in e-commerce by working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Sultanate of Oman.
Omantel has announced plans to develop 'Omantel Marketplace', a one-stop online shop for businesses and individuals to securely discover, purchase and sell goods, services, and innovative solutions. Omantel will work with AWS to develop the marketplace, which will run on AWS and leverage its machine learning and data analytics capabilities to provide a personalised customer experience.
The agreement comes as part of Omantel’s efforts to leverage its capabilities and global partnerships to enhance the contribution of the digital economy in the OmaniGDP and enhance the reach of Omani SMEs boosting their competitiveness in the global markets in line with Oman 2040 vision.
Commenting on the agreement, Talal Al-Mamari, the CEO of Omantel, said, “Omantel Marketplace marks a significant step towards realising the digital transformation journey of enterprises in the Sultanate of Oman. By working with AWS, we are confident we can develop a successful platform that will play a pivotal role in enabling enterprises, including SMEs, to advance their business and achieve more.”

This marketplace not only aims to help create a richer ecosystem of innovation for local enterprises but also helps Omantel deepen its relationship with its consumer and business customers. And, by running on AWS, Omantel can easily scale this marketplace as it grows.”
