NBO recognised by Ministry of Social Development for empowering disabled persons

Muscat: In recognition of its commitment towards empowering communities, National Bank of Oman (NBO) was recently awarded by the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) for supporting people with disabilities across Oman. The accolade was awarded during a ceremony organised by MoSD on the occasion of the United Nations-sanctioned International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society. The event was held under the auspices of Her Excellency Dr Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, while it was sponsored by NBO.

NBO aims to support and empower all members of the communities in which it operates, which is in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The bank’s CSR activities include efforts to support and promote a society that is inclusive of people with disabilities and that aims to further increase their participation in public life. Last year, NBO was awarded by MoSD for supporting people with disabilities in Oman as well.

Through its active CSR programme, NBO continues to fulfil its commitment to make a positive impact on society. Its CSR activities, which are carried out throughout the year, include a variety of educational and youth-led programmes, donations and sponsorships, all reflecting the bank’s core values and aimed at supporting those in need in particular. Earlier this year, for example, NBO undertook the full refurbishment of the children’s playroom at the Oman Cancer Association’s (OCA) Dar Al Hanan, Meanwhile, the bank also utilised its annual Holy Month of Ramadan community outreach programme, to share the spirit of giving across Oman by distributing food hampers to families in need and people with disabilities.
