Environment Authority launches book ‘Atlas of Oman’s Reptiles’

Muscat: The Environment Authority has launched a book ‘Atlas of Oman’s Reptiles’ which provides a summary on the development of the history of reptiles in the Sultanate of Oman, which aimed to enhance the efforts of preservation and protection of endangered reptiles on account of climate change.

The celebration of the launch was organised under the patronage of Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Ameri, Chairman of Environment  Authority said that the study documenting reptiles in the Sultanate included their habitats and represents a vital scientific reference for researchers in the field of reptiles. He added that the climate change causes imbalance in environment.

The ‘Atlas of Oman’s Reptiles’ also aimed to show the species and habitats of reptiles and to acquaint the citizens, residents and tourists on how to deal with reptiles once they find themselves close to reptiles.
