CAA warns about deep tropical depression

Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority publishes Alert (1) showing the latest satellite images and analysis of the National Early Warning Centre for Multiple Hazards to monitor a tropical depression near the western coast of the Republic of India at latitude 13.4 north and longitude 68.5 east, and the wind speed around the centre is estimated at 17 to 27 knots, with chances of it developing into a deep tropical depression within the next 12 hours.

CAA said: Expectations indicate that it will move west-northwest towards the centre of the Arabian Sea during the next 72 hours, with no direct effects on the Sultanate of Oman.

“It is possible that some sporadic clouds associated with the tropical state will flow over the governorates of Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar,” CAA added.

The Civil Aviation Authority calls on everyone to follow up the bulletins and reports issued by it and to avoid going to the sea during the aforementioned period
