Ten new tourism projects worth OMR4.5 million coming up in Oman

Muscat: With an investment of OMR4.5 million, ten new projects are coming up in the tourism sector. The massive investments are for establishment of hotels, hotel apartments, tourist resorts, and camps as well as restaurants in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrazi, Minister of Tourism, signed the contracts with ten investors to work on these projects in various wilayats of the Sultanate.

The Ministry of Tourism has signed renewable long term contracts for the use of tourism lands for investment in the projects meant for meeting the ever-growing demands in the tourism sector.
These projects would increase the number of hotel establishments and other facilities required by tourists.
These investors are of the firm view that the investment in the tourism sector is promising and matches with the approach of the government to strengthen the tourism sector and provide all sorts of facilities for investment in this area.
It is also important as according to the statistics there is an increase in the growth in the sector annually. Therefore, it is a must to match the demands of these growths through increased investment in the tourism sector, particularly in various governorates. It is also noticed that there is also growth in the domestic tourism.
Mohammed bin Ahmad Al-Madhani is investing in the project of a three-star hotel in the wilayat of Madha in Musandam governorate.
The hotel will come up at a cost of OMR3 million which would include preparation of the place, cost of buildings and well equipped hotels establishment.
He said that the hotel would consist of 89 rooms divided into four categories according to usage and areas. It will also have a restaurant, a coffee shop, a mini-playground and multi-purpose hall for events such as weddings, conferences and other community activities.
Smart buildings
Mohammed Al Madhani said that this hotel was based on the concepts of smart buildings and smart rooms. By incorporating this idea in the designing of the hotel, we want to enter the hospitality industries with smart services. We would also provide innovative services in this sector of the governorate.
He said that this project was in line with the vision of the government and the Ministry of Tourism to increase the role of the tourism in the growth of the national the economy in general and the tourism sector of the Wilayat of Madha in particular.
This is possible only through investment in the Wilayat and its strategic location.
He said that the hotel was expected to meet the demands of the accommodation services and would attract tourists to the Wilayat. This will also help in attracting parallel investment projects to revitalise and strengthen the commercial landscape of the Wilayat. It would provide 20 direct and indirect jobs. Investment in the tourism sector is a major source for the national economy and development of attractive tourist environments for which the Sultanate is known.
The investment in the tourism sector is no different from other investments in its contribution to the development of working capital and achieving a return for the investor. The tourism sector plays role in activation of other economic sectors.
Environmental resort
Khalid Al Wadahi of Wilayat Quriyat, is an investor in an environmental resort project which would come up with a cost of OMR16 million. It will be the first eco-tourism resort in the Sultanate of Oman. This will comprise of accommodation facilities in the natural environment.
Al Wadahi said that the resort would add a new dimension to the tourism sector of the Sultanate as it is characterised by its elegance and luxury as well as exclusivity and privacy, while preserving the natural environment of the area. He said that the resort was designed to include 80 hotel suites overlooking the waterfront perfectly integrated with the Omani architecture and environment.
