Muscat: Here is what is happening across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Jabal Qahwan Nature Reserve in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate protects natural ecosystems and rare wildlife

Jabal Qahwan is a nature reserve in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with a total area of ​​28,905 square kilometers, and the height of the mountain ranges between 1,000 and 1,300 meters above sea level.

Jabal Qahwan Nature Reserve is characterised by its biodiversity due to a variety of plants, such as Al-Atm, Sidr, Al-Samr, Al-Ghaf, Al-Qafs, Al-Lathab, Al-Shu’a, Al-Shahs, Al-Ghalas , Al-Qusad and Al-Sharh trees. These are trees of vital value due to their importance as the ground upon which the life of many living organisms depends.They use them as food and a place to hide and rest. There are many herbs that grow after the seasonal rains.

In addition to the biodiversity, the reserve is home to many rare animals, and mammals breed in it, such as: the purebred Arab ibex. Where the reserve is the suitable habitat for it, and it is the main animal in the reserve

There are also deer, Arabian wolves, red fox, mountain fox, lynx, mongoose and wildcat in the reserve. The reserve is home to many important wild birds residing permanently, like the bald eagle and Egyptian vulture .

The reserve relies on rainwater and winter torrents, as rain falls in the mountain, which leads to its gathering in pits, valley bottoms, slopes, and springs that meet the basic needs of living organisms that live in the mountain environment.

The residents of this reserve practice grazing livestock and harvesting bee honey in its seasons, which are among the professions that generate economic income for the local population in the reserve, in addition to the handicrafts and traditional crafts they are accustomed to.

Four pacts signed to support health projects in the Governorates of North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah

The Ministry of Health and Sohar Aluminum Company, in the Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate, signed 4 memorandums of understanding to finance projects that serve the health sector in the governorates of North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah, under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, in the presence of His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah.

The agreements were signed on behalf of the Ministry of Health by Dr. Khalid bin Said Al Saadi, Director General of Health Services in North Al Batinah , and Dr. Ahmed bin Said Al Kalbani, Director General of Health Services in Al Dhahirah, and Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharousi, Director General of Human Resources and Company Affairs, on behalf of Sohar Aluminum Company.

The four agreements include financing the construction of a training center building in Sohar Hospital on an area of ​​435 square meters, purchasing ultrasound equipment for Sohar Hospital and Falaj Al Qabail Health Center in North Al Batinah Governorate, financing the construction of a breast cancer unit in Ibri Hospital, and purchasing CPR training equipment for the Directorate General of Health Services in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

Dr. Khalid bin Said Al Saadi, Director General of Health Services in North Al Batinah Governorate, confirmed that the signing of financing agreements for health projects in the governorates of North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah will be an added value to the current projects in the health sector in the health institutions in these two governorates. It will be important in the areas of training, radiology and medical tools, which will mainly reflect on the speed of services provided to auditors of the health institutions included in the projects.

In addition to raising the efficiency of health and medical personnel by establishing a training center and providing training tools that achieve this goal.

 Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharousi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminum, referred to Sohar Aluminum's interest and commitment to its responsibilities towards supporting communities and contributing to local development in various fields and sectors, especially the health sector, through the initiative in implementing sustainable projects that help achieve the goals of development and improvement in this vital sector.

With a value of OMR 3 million, OQ contributes to the implementation of social investment projects in Musandam Governorate

His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, sponsored today the ceremony of the introductory forum on social investment projects of OQ Group in Musandam Governorate.

His Excellency was briefed on the implemented and ongoing social investment projects in the governorate's wilayats by OQ - the global integrated group - with an estimated value of OMR 3 million. This comes as an embodiment of its social responsibility and service to local communities.

The OQ Group seeks to build strong relationships with stakeholders, and to find new job opportunities for growth and partnerships through planning and implementing projects that contribute to achieving the desired social and economic development in the Sultanate of Oman.

His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the OQ Group in the areas of social investment in the governorate’s wilayats and its social and economic impact, stressing that it was in line with the government’s efforts to develop the states, placing the sustainable impact of projects as a priority in all completed and ongoing projects.

His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the OQ Group in the fields of social investment in the governorate’s wilayats and its social and economic impact. Stressing that it came in line with the government's efforts to develop the wilayats , placing the sustainable impact of the projects as a priority in all projects that have been and are being implemented.

His Excellency pointed out that these projects would enrich the service and tourism aspects of the governorate's wilayats and serve citizens in particular.

"These projects constitute a motive for other institutions to enhance their social role by supporting local community initiatives as part of their social investment programmes." Al Busaidi added.

His Excellency the Governor praised the cooperation of government agencies and local communities with the OQ Group to implement social investment projects in a way that contributes to the smooth implementation according to the plans set.
