RAFO marks graduation of new batch of officers and pilots

Muscat: The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) celebrated on Wednesday the graduation of a new batch of officers and pilots, under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).
The celebration was organised at the military parade ground at Ghala Base and Sultan Qaboos Air Academy.

The celebration started with the military salute to His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad Al Said on his arrival at the celebration ground and RAFO troupe played the royal anthem.

Then His Highness inspected the first column of graduates which was followed by the graduates’ slow march performance that proceeded before the main dais accompanied by playing of military pieces of music.

Sayyid Taimur conferred the designated wings on pilots and gave away the sword of honour to officer cadet Mohammed bin Ali Al Badai, who secured first place at the overall category in the officers’ cadet session. This was followed by the protocol of passing the flag of Sultan Qaboos Academy from the present session of graduates to the new session currently undergoing training at the Academy.

On the conclusion of the celebration commemorative photos were taken for the graduates with His Highness Sayyid Taimur.

The celebration was attended by a number of members of the Royal Family, minsters, chairman of Majlis Al Shura, Commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other military and security apparatuses, a number of members of the State Council, undersecretaries, senior officers of SAF and other  security and senior state officials.

It was also attended by a number of military attaches accredited to the Sultanate, a number of retired commanders and senior officers, RAFO officers and non-commissioned officers and personnel, parents of graduates and invitees.
