1.  Japanese hotel to be opened in Muscat

For the first time in the Middle East, the Japanese hotel ' Okura' will be opened in Muscat Governorate by 2027.

"Japanese media announced that the ancient Japanese 'Okura' hotel will open in Muscat by 2027 for the first time in the Middle East, referring to the 'Oman Vision 2040' that aims to diversify the economy, including the tourism industry," Oman Embassy in Tokyo said in a statement. 

2. Over 15,000 mangrove saplings planted in Al Wusta

More than 15,000 mangrove saplings have been planted in Khor Ghawi which is located in the Wilayat of Al Jazir, Al Wusta Governorate, the Environment Authority said.

The Authority said: "The Environment Authority continues its commitment to completing the stages of implementation of the national initiative to plant 10 million trees and the program to rehabilitate the khors in the Sultanate of Oman, as it is currently working on planting 15,500 mangrove seedlings in Khor Ghawi in the Wilayat of Al Jazir from 5th to 8th December 2022. "

3. Police seize over 70 kgs of narcotics, psychotropic substances 

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has seized more than 70 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances found from 13 smugglers.

"The Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrested 13 Asian nationals on charges of smuggling and possessing more than 70 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances for trafficking in association with an international gang. The legal procedures are being completed against them," ROP said in a statement.
