Muscat: Oman is working with potential partners for the investment of $40 billion to build a number of green energy projects in the Sultanate by the year 2040.
“Oman has plans to produce 200 millions tonnes of Green Hydrogen materials by 2040. Oman is now well placed to become a major contributor of green hydrogen projects in the world. We are taking this project very seriously and we are determined to reach our goals,” Nasser Al Ruzeiki, green energy specialist at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals told the delegates at the Oman and Korea Green Hydrogen Strategic Forum.
Energy officials in Oman said the closer collaboration between the two countries will make the Sultanate a major source of green energy.
Oman has allocated over 50,000 sqkm of land for the green hydrogen projects.
“We are well placed to be one of the global leaders in green hydrogen, especially in solar and wind energy. We are working with strategic partners, including Korea, to move forward with our ambitions,” Khalil Al Hanashi, Project Manager at the National Hydrogen Alliance, told delegates.
Oman has already developed Duqm, Salalah and Sohar freezones for major green hydrogen projects.
