Baloch in Oman, before and after Renaissance

Muscat: In the history of the world, Oman is well known and influenced other nations because of its great leaders before and after the Renaissance. Due to its strategic location, the country is unique and one of the most beautiful things about Oman since it has a variety of cultures and languages, which can be viewed as colourful flowers in the great garden called “Oman,” which distinguishes Oman from other Arab countries.

The Baloch have lived in Oman since ancient times, playing different roles together with other tribes in the state for building and securing it. Due to its close proximity to Makran, the coastal strip of Baluchistan that runs along the Arabian Gulf, Oman has maintained relations with Baluchistan. Around the end of the fourth millennium BC, Oman was part of an international trade range that included the Arabian Peninsula, Iran, Zanzibar, Makran, and India.

During the period 1624-1744, the Yaruba dynasty ruled Oman, while from 1744 to the present, the Al Busaidi dynasty governs Oman. Under both rulers, the Baloch played an important role in particular defending Oman against the Portuguese and defeating them in order to make Oman a great and secured country. Baloch awarded with different roles, responsibilities and positions from the rulers of Oman.

1970-2020 is the renaissance period when late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour, the visionary leader, ruled Oman the best into the end of his life, and Oman shone under the inspirational leadership of Qaboos. During this time, Oman developed with proper infrastructure, and Baloch, like any other tribe, were given high-ranking posts to serve the country well.

It is the fact that Omanis were in the dark before the Renaissance and deprived of education and treatment. After 1970 Oman became one of the lights for the nation where all tribes were equally treated in the fields of education, economics, medical facilities, sports and travelling. As well as other tribes, Baloch are also enjoying these opportunities and live a happy and satisfying life there today.

2020 Present marks the dawn of a new Oman under His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. In terms of both economics and politics, he is a great leader who creates the most positive and brotherly relationships with other countries. In terms of Oman and its nation, his vision of 2040 is one of the most promising.

In the end, it does not matter what the country does for you, but how much you can do for your motherland. Under the great leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Baloch and other tribes promise to be a part of the new journey.
