Muscat: A cooperation agreement was signed here today to offer training for 1,000 Omani jobseekers at vocational colleges. The agreement was inked by the National Employment Programme (NEP) to raise the efficiency of jobseekers and qualify them to take up jobs in the labour market.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Mahad Said Ba'Owain, Minister of Labour and Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The programme focuses on students who have successfully completed Grade 10 basic education level and wish to pursue their studies to obtain vocational qualifications that respond to the transitions taking place in the Omani labour market.
The programme also benefits students aged 18 years and above who are registered as jobseekers. It also provides a financial reward as an incentive during the study and training periods.
The agreement states that the students may get to join a diverse range of vocational programmes that extend for two academic years, after which the students obtain a certificate of professional competence.
