Ample scope for adventure tourism in Oman

Muscat: Adventure tourism in the Sultanate of Oman is very popular as tourists can spend a unique and new experience throughout the country by climbing mountains and travel in valleys, deserts and seas, as the Sultanate of Oman has many ingredients in this sector that make it a promising destination.

Adventure tourism is a popular sport with a large and promising market, in addition to it being one of the most prominent types of tourism in the Sultanate of Oman due to its geographical and climatic diversity.

Dawood bin Sulaiman Al Rashidi, Director of the Department of Tourism Product Development at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: “The Sultanate of Oman is unique in its various natural resources and has potential to become one of the best tourist destinations in the world for adventure tourism activities. The ministry is currently working on exchanging ideas and visuals and presenting practical experiences so that this product is able to grow with a high methodology and professionalism, in coordination with the public and private sectors and interested individuals.

“The ministry is seeking to raise awareness of the importance of providing security and safety requirements for operators and practitioners of adventure tourism activities and trying to help them get the benefit that individuals and local communities aspire to get from adventure tourism.”
