We Love Oman: Water pools of Wadi Bani Khalid

Wadi Bani Khalid is one of the best-known wadis in the Sultanate of Oman.Its stream maintains a constant flow of water throughout the year. Large pools of water and boulders are scattered along the course of the wadi. As a geographical area, the wadi covers a large swathe of lowland and the Hajar Mountains.

Located some 200 km from Muscat, Wadi Bani Khalid is very popular among the tourists.

Take the Bidbid – Sur Road in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, which forks into a side road leading to Wilayat Bani Khalid, and then weaves up across the Eastern Hajar Mountains to Bida village deep in the mountains. There, you can enjoy the spectacular views of the fertile valley with its trees and abundant water that tumbles down in the form of waterfalls in some areas to form natural pools of water.

The road then cuts through the valley to reach Muqal town, which is well known for its cave. The water pools are one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Wadi Bani Khalid. Tourists from various nationalities come here throughout the year to enjoy the beautiful and varied nature of the wilayat and spend an enjoyable time.
