Total domestic sales of refineries in Oman rise by 18.2%

Muscat: The total local sales of refineries in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 18.2 per cent till the end of September 2022 compared to the corresponding period in 2021, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Oman’s production of petrol (M-95) rose by 8.8 per cent to stand at 11,414,100 barrels compared to the same period in 2021. Sales of M-95 fuel dropped by 0.1 per cent to reach 9,498,700 barrels, while exports reached 2,745,900 barrels, comprising a surge by 93.1 per cent till the end of September 2021.

The production of standard grade petrol (M-91) declined by 0.6 per cent till the end of September 2022 to stand at 9,876,200 barrels compared to the same period in 2021. Sales of M-91 fuel reached 9,622,800 barrels, comprising a rise by 50.8 per cent, while exports declined by 71.2 per cent to reach 1,109,900 barrels.

Gas oil (diesel) output fell by 14.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2021, to reach 23,255,700 barrels. Sales of diesel increased by 11.2 per cent to reach 11,067,700 barrels, while exports decreased by 32.9 per cent  compared to the same period in 2021 to stand at 11,664,500 barrels.

As far as petrochemicals are concerned, the exports and production of polypropylene went up by 30.4 per cent and 5.3 per cent, respectively. Sales of polypropylene dropped by 47 per cent at the end of September 2022 compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

Meanwhile, the exports and production of benzene declined by 81.1 per cent and 76.5 per cent respectively. The production and exports of paraxylene went down by 93.2 per cent and 91.4 per cent, receptively, till the end of September 2022.
