Oman participates in GCC joint defence council meeting

Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman took part on Tuesday in the 19th session of the Joint Defence Council of GCC Ministers of Defence, held at the headquarters of the GCC Secretariat General in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).


Oman’s delegation was headed by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.

The Joint Defence Council’s session touched on a spectrum of military matters of common interest in a bid to enhance the march of GCC military cooperation.

In his statement, HH Sayyid Shihab extended an invitation to GCC Ministers of Defence to attend the 20th session of the Joint Defence Council in the Sultanate of Oman.

Moreover, several decisions and recommendations were taken during the session and they will be submitted to the GCC Supreme Council.

Oman’s delegation in the session is headed by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs. He is accompanied by Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and several senior SAF officers.

HH Sayyid Shihab was seen off at Al Seeb Airbase by Maj. Gen Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), several senior SAF officers and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Sultanate of Oman.
