Oman Sailing Festival begins in Salalah

Muscat: The Oman Sailing Festival has begun in Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

"Today, on the waterfront of Dahariz Beach in the Wilayat of Salalah, Oman's community initiative for sailing ‘Oman Sailing Festival’ began in its fourth station. The festival will last for five days, " Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.

The festival, which is organised by Oman Sailing in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to promote tourism in the governorate, introduce the Omani maritime heritage, highlight its ancient history, and advance the tourism, sports and youth adventure sector in the Sultanate of Oman.

The festival, in its fourth station, in the Governorate of Dhofar, includes a number of various recreational activities and events, such as sailing experiences on sailing boats under the supervision of specialised trainers, and the establishment of awareness campaigns for cleaning beaches. In addition to organising an exhibition for owners of small and medium enterprises and productive families.

Oman Sailing Festival was held previously in three stations in the wilayats of Sohar, Musannah and Seeb, where it witnessed a wide participation of sailing experiments in addition to the implementation of cleaning campaigns for the beaches.

The Oman Sailing Festival will be held in the Sports City in Musannah in South Al Batinah Governorate from November 24 to 26, while the penultimate stop will be held from December 8 to 10 in Al Mouj Muscat, and the last stop will be at Bassa Beach in the Wilayat of Khasab in the Musandam Governorate from December 20 to 24.
