1. Expats arrested for illegally burning wood
Expats were arrested for burning piles of wood for the purpose of producing packed charcoal for distribution in markets in South Al Batinah Governorate.
The Environment Department in South Al Batinah Governorate arrested expatriate workers who were burning piles of wood in order to produce packed charcoal ready for distribution in the markets. The legal procedures are being completed against them.
2. One arrested for stealing from shops in Musandam Governorate
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested a person for stealing from several shops in Musandam Governorate.
"Musandam Governorate Police Command arrested a person on charges of stealing sums of money, medical and personal tools from five shops. The legal procedures are being completed against him," ROP said in a statement.
3. Police seize 35 kgs of crystal from five people
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has seized 35 kilograms of crystal narcotics found from five smugglers.
A statement issued online by ROP said :"The Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrested five infiltrators of Asian nationalities on charges of smuggling and possessing 35 kilograms of crystal narcotics in partnership with an international gang. The legal procedures are being completed against them."
4. Lunar eclipse not to be visible from Oman
The lunar eclipse which has already begun will not be visible from the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab world.
"The partial eclipse begins at 1:09 pm MCT, while the total eclipse begins at 2:16 pm and ends at 3:41 pm. The partial eclipse ends at 4:49 pm, and at 5:56 pm the eclipse ends in all its stages," Oman Astronomical Society said in a statement.
