1. Expired children’s toys and candies seized in Muscat Governorate
Muscat Municipality has seized expired children’s toys and candies at commercial centre in the Wilayat of Seeb.
"In cooperation with the Consumer Protection Authority, the food control team in the Muscat Municipality in Seeb seized a violating centre and destroyed a quantity of children’s toys and candies due to their expiration date, and deceiving the consumer by packing them in alternative boxes that hide their expiry date, and the safety of materials manufactured for toys that have been disposed of," Muscat Municipality said in a statement.
2. Police seizes over 1 million Captagon tablets in Oman
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has seized more than 1 million Captagon tablets found from three smugglers in North Al Batinah Governorate.
"Coast Guard Police in North Al Batinah Governorate arrested three Asian smugglers on a boat at sea with 1,822,000 Captagon tablets. The legal procedures are being completed against them," ROP said in a statement.
3. Two arrested for fraud, online extortion
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested two people on charges of fraud and online extortion.
"The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations arrested two people of Arab nationality on charges of fraud and electronic extortion through a social media programme after they impersonated a girl and communicated with the victim and blackmailed him by transferring large sums of money, " ROP said in a statement.
ROP advises the public not to accept friendship requests of unknown people on social media platforms, or to send money under any threat. In the event of harassment or blackmail, immediately report it to the toll-free number (80077444) of the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations.
