Oman works hard towards encouraging innovation by supporting youth and developing products: Sayyid Badr

Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, has said that the 31st Annual Arab-US Policymakers Conference promotes collaboration that is enhanced by a global humanitarian vision.

Sayyid Badr made the statement at the conference, organised in Washington by the National Council on US-Arab Relations.

“The conference contributes extensively to understanding the challenges, opportunities, and uncertainties in the Arab-US relations that we face together today,” Sayyid Badr explained.

He added that the Council’s contribution comes as a measure to foster elaborate and enlightened cooperation that stems from a global humanitarian vision.

The conference offers serious and objective dialogue aimed to handle issues that emerge within the context of the future of Arab-US relations.

The dialogue envisages the role that the United States wishes to assume in the modern Arab world, bearing in mind the nature of US commitment towards the security of the region, said Sayyid Badr, noting that GCC states may combine, in a better way, their relations with the United States alongside their ties with other powers.

In his statement, Sayyid Badr laid emphasis on broadlines of the process of reorganisation. He pointed out that transmission requires large investments in renewable energy and that Oman has some of the world’s top potentials to produce solar power and wind power. In this context, he referred to a study that asserts that green hydrogen resources equate ten multiples of its current oil and gas production.

Sayyid Badr explained that economic diversification and technological development will play a vital role in other areas for the sake of economic diversification and the establishment of partnerships with technology innovators in the future.

Sayyid Badr affirmed that Oman works hard towards encouraging innovation by supporting Omani youth and developing products, services and SMEs. He added that Oman Vision 2040 made this approach a priority which promotes renewable energy, emerging tech startups with government support and reflects a desire to ensure that the new economy is an economy that provides opportunities and prosperity for all,” he said.

Winding up his statement, Sayyid Badr said, "The American participation in the region will support security, stability and prosperity more effectively than it was before through the development and implementation of policies that promote decarbonization, achieve economic diversification and enhance social integration."
