Muscat: Tasks of a training programme on detecting cheating and fraud kicked off here. Organised by the State’s Audit Institution (SAI), the 4-day event is being held in cooperation with supreme audit institutions and the Arab Organisation for Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI). It is attended by 35 participants from Arab regulatory bodies and the SAI.
The programme, which comes in the implementation of the ARABOSAI training and research plan, seeks to enable participants to understand the specifications and control procedures for fraud risk assessment. It also aims to provide the participants with the skills needed to identify risks and detect fraud when conducting audit tasks.
The programme includes an application exercise summarising audit institutions’ role in detecting cases of deception and fraud. It provides an overview of legal procedures undertaken after the detection of fraud and reviews working papers submitted by the participants presenting their experiences.
