Muscat: Indian School Muscat was in a burst of enthusiasm on the occasion of its Annual Day celebration at the school’s New Multi-Purpose Hall on the 1 November 2022.
A galaxy of dignitaries graced the occasion. The presence of Chief Guest, Dr. Yasmin Al Bulushi, also the Chairperson, Knowledge Oman and the Guest of Honour Sachin Toprani, President, Indian School Muscat Management Committee, Syed Salman, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Vice President, Convenor, Treasurer, Co-Convenor and esteemed members of Indian School Muscat Management Committee, former SMC presidents and ex-SMC members, principals of other Indian Schools in Oman, lit up the grand evening.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Senior Vice- Principal (Administration), Vice- Principals and Assistant Vice-Principals of various sections, teachers, student council members and the students glowed with pride at the grand hosting of the mega event.
National Anthems of India and Oman marked the commencement of the event followed by lighting of the traditional lamp, thus radiating its divine and positive energy across the gathering. The prayer song led by the school choir evoked the blessings of the Almighty. The Head Boy, Madhav Suresh, accorded a formal welcome to the august gathering.
The dance number, Chamak Abhyuday (Rise and Shine) by the tiny-tots of the pre-primary section was a show-stealer. The digital presentation of the annual report was nothing less than a visual treat walking the audience through the chronicles of activities, events, achievements and accolades clinched by ISM over the past year.
The most awaited moment was the felicitation, acknowledgment of the notable services of all those individuals who had given their heart and soul to the betterment of the institution and the students.
Chief Guest Dr. Yasmin Al Bulushi felicitated the school toppers in AISSE, AISSCE, students with remarkable achievements in sports and Best Teacher awardees. The former SMC members were also felicitated on this solemn occasion by the Chief Guest.
This was followed by the thought provoking words of the Chief Guest who congratulated all the achievers for their passion, efforts, hard work and resoluteness towards achieving their goals. They were referred to as ‘Indian School Knowledge Ambassadors’ who should incessantly seek excellence and should have a never give-up attitude in their lives.
They were also advised to embrace failure in their stride, since it is the launching pad for their future accomplishments. She reiterated that the young leaders should be well equipped to face the eventualities. As a token of appreciation, the Chief Guest was presented with a memento and a painting radiating the artistic charisma of the Fine Arts Department.
‘We are the World, We are the Children’, a mesmerizing rendition by the tiny-tots of the primary section enthralled the audience with the lovely message of uplifting the spirit and love for our motherland. Panchbhuta -- a staggering performance by 110 students of the Primary section representing the five elements of all cosmic creation was lined up next.
The Guest of Honour Mr. Sachin Toprani, President, School Management Committee was invited to bestow the long service and the President’s award. Later, he too addressed the gathering, contributing his valuable thoughts.
He congratulated and appreciated the achievers for their diligence and sustained efforts. Mr. Syed Salman, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors was welcomed to the stage to felicitate the students of class X and XII with the Chairman’s awards followed by the felicitations by the Vice President, SMC.
The prodigies of middle school captivated the audience with their Indo-Western Fusion Music. Next, the budding talents of the middle section surprised the audience by enacting ‘The Seven Ages’ by Shakespeare, which was yet another jaw dropping performance of the evening.
The class XII Subject Toppers and the teachers who fostered their students to achieve centum were felicitated by Convenor, SMC, followed by Treasurer, SMC felicitating the subject toppers of Class X. Co-Convenor, SMC gave away the Principal’s Award to the students and Chair, Academic Subcommittee conferred the Merit Awards to the students.
A soulful song, ‘Courage to Change’, by the Senior Section, inspired everyone to be proactive, courageous and forthright. This was followed by an electrifying combination of Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Kuchipudi. The performance was truly a magical experience.
The grand event culminated with a vote of thanks by the Head Girl, Ann Elza Monica, followed by the School Anthem. On the whole, the grand evening was a joyous feast served by ISM to its eminent guests.
