Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman expressed its sympathy with the Republic of Korea over the stampede that occurred in the capital, Seoul.

Oman News Agency (ONA), reported that Oman expresses its sympathy with Korea for the stampede that occurred in the capital, Seoul, expressing its sincere condolences to the Korean government and people, and to the families of the victims, and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

According to Al Jazeera, at least 151 people, mostly women and young people in their 20s, have been killed in a chaotic stampede in South Korea's capital Seoul after a huge crowd thronged a narrow street during Halloween celebrations.

A further 82 were hurt, 19 of them seriously, in the stampede that took place in the entertainment district of Itaewon on Saturday night.

The incident happened at about 10 pm local time ( 13:00 GMT ) when large numbers of people flooded a narrow alley near the Hamilton Hotel.
