Muscat: The State Council will open its fourth regular session of the annual convening (2022/2023) of the seventh term on November 6 in accordance with Article (41) of the Law of the Council of Oman and on the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
During its third regular convening of the seventh term, the State Council recorded many achievements within its prerogatives and powers and submitted studies and proposals in accordance with the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman.
The State Council concluded the third regular convening (2021/2022) of the seventh term on 14 July 2022, which saw issuance of three Royal Decrees on draft laws referred from the Council of Ministers as well as referral of eight studies prepared by the State Council to the government in addition to the draft General Budget of the State 2022.
Khalid bin Ahmed Al Saadi, Secretary General of the State Council said that the Council held six regular sessions during which it discussed sixteen issues including draft laws referred from the Council of Ministers and approved a number of studies and proposals submitted from the committees of the State Council.
He said that during the regular sessions of the third annual convening of the seventh term, the State Council concluded a number of draft laws, submitted to His Majesty the Sultan, in accordance with Article (47) of the Law of the Council of Oman issued by Royal Decree No. 7/2021.
He said that the State Council submitted to His Majesty the Sultan a draft law on amendment of some provisions of the Law of Records and Archives , issued by Royal Decree No. 60/2007, the Draft Law of Securities and a draft law on amendment of the Notary Public Law, following detailed discussions witnessed in the third annual convening of the seventh term.
He said that the State Council also discussed the draft General Budget of the State 2022 and submitted its proposals on the same to the Council of Ministers.
The Office of the State Council held several meetings during the third convening of the seventh term in which it discussed sixty-two issues, he said, pointing out that the Office of the State Council took 40 decisions on the issues it held discussions. During the meetings, the State Council Office hosted chairpersons of the permanent committee and secretaries for discussions on the studies and proposals submitted by the committees, he said.
Within the enhancement of the relations between the Sultanate and other countries, he said that Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, assigned by His Majesty the Sultan, participated in the celebrations of the Republic of Tanzania with the 60th Anniversary of its Independence Day.
The members of the State Council have received during the third regular convening of the seventh term a number of delegations, he said.
