HM's visit to Bahrain affirms authenticity of historical relations: Information Minister

Muscat: “The visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Kingdom of Bahrain reflects the truthfulness of historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the strong bonds of fraternity between the peoples of the two countries in all fields and at various levels, including political, economic and cultural spheres,” Dr. Abdullah bin Nassir Al Harrasi, Minister of Information said here today.

In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Dr. Abdullah said that what sets bilateral relations apart is the fact that they date back to historical epochs of Majan and Dilmun.

He added that “the first building blocks for the establishment of the GCC stemmed from common visions.

Dr. Abdullah pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain played a key role in formulating the visions, said the minister, adding that relations between the two countries kept growing for more than half a century. Those relations are based on honest and solid principles in dealing with various issues and events.

He explained that the presence of a joint Omani-Bahraini committee has been a great incentive to coordinate action towards the expansion of various aspects of cooperation between the two countries.

The panel aspires to develop a concept of comprehensiveness serving the interests of the two countries’ peoples, notably through the implementation of the visions of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

The minister said that discreet media policy espoused by the Sultanate of Oman contributed greatly to navigating a moderate course that spared it the pitfalls of generating unsatisfactory outcomes.

“The Sultanate of Oman addresses the world, and its Arab brethren in particular, in a manner that shows respect and appreciation for all,” said Dr. Abdullah.

He pointed out that upon the outset of the modern Omani renaissance way back in the seventies of the last century, it founded its media message on the grounds that Oman remains a friend for all. This approach, he added, is confirmed by the Renewed Renaissance, the hallmark of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s leadership.
