Oman shares end marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,452.96 points, down by 0.59 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.08 per cent at 479.99 points. Dhofar Cattle Feed, up 9.72 per cent, was the top gainer while United Finance, down 9.64 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Dhofar were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 267 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.45 million, with more than 8.68 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 10 advanced, 20 declined, and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR116,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR89,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR27,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,104.65 points, down 0.69 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment and Ahli Bank were up by 2.63 per cent and 0.74 per cent, respectively. Prices of United Finance, Al Sharqia Investment, Muscat Finance, Bank Dhofar, and Bank Muscat were down by 9.72 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.38 per cent, and 1.05 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,061.71 points, down 0.41 per cent. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, Oman Flour Mills and Gulf Mushroom Products were up by 9.72 per cent, 0.72 per cent  and 0.43 per cent, respectively. Prices of National Mineral Water, Raysut Cement, Jazeera Steel Products and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 6.67 per cent, 3.95 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 1.10 per cent, respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.08 per cent before closing at 1,563.72 points. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, Oman Oil Marketing, Al Maha Markting, Muscat Gases, and OIFC were up by 5.41 per cent, 4.44 per cent, 2.79 per cent, 1.48 per cent, and 0.79 per cent respectively. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power, Renaissance Services, and Oman National Engineering were down by 3.23 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.29 per cent, and 0.90 per cent respectively.
