Muscat: The Omani Society for Writers and Literati, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, on Tuesday inaugurated the Literary Creativity Award for students of public and private schools and special education.
The award is set for two categories, the first one is for students aged 11-18 years old, while the second is for students aged 7-10 years old.
Students aged 11-18 years old can compete in the fields of poetry, literary research, literary criticism, short fiction and literary article.
Students aged 7-10 years old can compete in the fields of literary article, speaking, reciting poetry and reading.
The Literary Creativity Award aims to boost cooperation between the Omani Society for Writers and Literati and the Ministry of Education, as well as highlighting the importance of literary work among all segments of society, especially young students.
The award will contribute to enhancing the talents and creativity of participants and encourage literary writing among young people. It will also increase the society’s role in social service.
On the sidelines of the launching ceremony, an agreement of cooperation was signed between the Omani Society for Writers and Literati and the Ministry of Education. This agreement was signed by Said Mohammed Al Saqlawi, Chairman of the society’s Board of Directors and Dr. Abdullah Khamis Ambusaidi, Education Undersecretary.
