Muscat: Here is what is happening across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Spartan race held in Dhofar Governorate

The Dhofar Municipality in the Al Dahariz area in the Wilayat of Salalah, in cooperation with the Omran Group and Spartan Arabia, organised the global event Spartan. The event was sponsored by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki bin Mahmoud Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.

The event comes within the activities of the Serb season for the current year 2022, which is being held for the first time in the Governorate of Dhofar as part of the municipality's plan to make the Governorate of Dhofar a destination for visitors in all seasons.

The race, which was attended by nearly 800 participants from the Sultanate of Oman and various countries of the world, included a Spartan Super race of 10 km and 25 obstacles, in addition to four other races for children's age groups.

The Emirati Mohammed Al-Hasani came first in the Spartan Super 10 km and 25 hurdles race, followed by Richard Hynek from the Czech Republic in second place and Omani Obaid Al Nuaimi in third place.

Labour Ministry conducts tests for job seekers in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate


More than 1,000 Omani job seekers are competing to fill 55 job vacancies in various government units in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

The Ministry of Labour conducted electronic tests for a number of jobs in a number of government units in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, at the College of Applied Sciences in the Wilayat of Sur. The tests will last for two days.

The number of contestants from the governorate reached 1,083 citizens to fill 55 vacancies in the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Interior, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the Environment Authority and the Consumer Protection Authority.

Entrepreneurs, owners of small and medium enterprises meet in Muscat

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority organised a meeting with entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises in the Governorate of Muscat, with the participation of more than 320 entrepreneurs from various sectors and wilayats of the governorate.

The meeting discussed the challenges faced by owners of small and medium-sized enterprises, such as financing, usufruct of land, training, development and empowerment, marketing and promotion, the system of legislation and laws, and providing business opportunities such as tenders, contracts and procurement to find solutions and initiatives that contribute to the sustainability of the activity of small and medium enterprises.

The meeting reviewed the strategic directions of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, the goals it seeks to achieve, and its implemented and existing services and initiatives to support and empower small and medium enterprises, such as financing programmes, business incubators, and the regulation for the practice of home production.

Abdulaziz bin Saeed Al Raisi, Vice President of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, explained that the meeting came to identify the challenges facing entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises, and then develop viable solutions and initiatives.

According to the statistics of mid-September 2022, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Governorate of Muscat is 27,692, of which 14,078 have an entrepreneurship card.

The manufacturing sector came at the forefront of the sectors that include small and medium enterprises with an entrepreneurship card, followed by the construction sector, while the wholesale and retail trade sector in the field of repairing motor vehicles and motorcycles ranked third.

The meeting came as a continuation of the series of direct meetings that started in the Governorate of Dhofar in August and then was followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah last September.

South Al Sharqiyah holds meeting on design of visual identity of governorate

The office of the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in the Municipal Hall in the Wilayat of Sur organised a meeting to review the initial design of the visual identity project for the governorate, with the participation of young people from the governorate and specialists in the field of graphic design, web design, advertising and electronic marketing.

During the meeting, His Excellency Dr Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, stressed the governorate’s keenness to expand the base of community participation, involve the people of the governorate’s wilayats and inform them of the governorate’s future plans and projects would create an effective and real partnership in supporting the renewed Omani renaissance process.

The Governor of South Al Sharqiya stressed the importance of visual identity in expressing the governorate’s vision and message, as well as its role in national work and consolidating a positive mental image of it in the community, in addition to its importance in promoting tourism in the Governorate. It represents an important achievement in the development approach that is in line with the objectives of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik

His Excellency pointed out the need to harmonise the visual identity with the general directions of the Oman Vision 2040 and the urban strategic projects of the governorate. In addition to the importance of its consistency with the characteristics of the governorate and its cultural and historical values that characterise it, and the elements that South Al Sharqiyah has in terms of promotion and marketing, by including the visual identity in all the activities of the governorate and its facilities.

During the meeting, the proposal for designing the visual identity for the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah was reviewed by the Venus company, an advertising and design organisation established in 2014 and run by Omani youth. The company also provides professional services in the design and management of identities, and the design of all types of publications and electronic publications.
